Lumberjack…tweed..plaids..chunky knits..gentlemanly tailoring..military..rebellious, smoldering, dark, textured clothes.. no i’m not listing a women’s fantasy shopping list for her man, these are AW14 trends for you lucky men!

Now you know that women actually love these trends, and the fashion world has given you this opportunity, there’s no excuses to delay shopping for your winter wardrobe!

Gentlemen’s club, Sport luxe, and homages to the working man are all words used this season. In keeping with women’s trends this season, men have got the choice of pretty much the same but of course with a rugged twist.

Tartans, Plaids and Checks are in big, even Gingham. Lots of sharp tailoring in all departments. Patterns applying to all areas too, from checked over-coats to plaid scarfs.

There’s a definite nod to the dark side of things, punk culture and rebellion are looking good at the moment. Think combos of leather, patent, wool’s and metallic’s.

The zoological and botanical themes follow through to men’s staples, ¬†bomber jackets give a good rugged base for a floral, flirty, brave print in the male world.¬†We are seeing tapestry prints, silks and tweed’s here too.

Your key pieces are going to be a nice checked/ plaid/ tartan overcoat, biker jacket, heavy duty boots (military is in right now), a deep and dark sweatshirt, go for texture. There’s a lot of shadowy palettes, a good pair of grey trews would be a good base item, or go bold with more checks or plaids. Mix it up with splashes of colour in the form of t-shirts or shirt’s.
